Community Forum > SMB scan No exports were discovered... after upgrading from 4.2.4 to 4.4.2

Hi,

Anyone have seen this issue? Our QS has established SMB Network share connections, and we backup policy copying files from the remote share to local export share. Everything was running fine but after we upgrade the version from 4.2.4 to 4.4.2, we can no longer scan SMB share, it is always indicating "No exports were discovered". Checking into the server qs_service.log only seeing this "Scanning SMB shares at server 'xx.xx.xx.xx' with command 'smbclient -L //xx.xx.xx.xx -U user%********'" with no output.

The backup policy is still running as expected, but whenever we "Modify Backup Policy" and click on "Scan" using existing credentials, it is returning "No exports were discovered"

Any input will be appreciated

Thanks,
Shiyuan

Hello Shiyuan,

This may be an issue that is fixed in an upcoming release. You may be able to work around this by simplifying the username/password if there are any special characters in use for scanning the shares.

Please let us know if this resolves your issue and if not, we can follow up further.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. After digging further we realized some of the issue are related to our routing table, we added route between the QS servers and resolved them.

However for some other QS servers seems the issue is a bit different. We are not able to scan ("No exports were discovered" returned) and the backup policy failed with error: "error 'Host is down' on path '/mnt/backup_policy/xxxxxx". We rebooted the QS server and triggered the policy again, got new error: CIFS mount to path '/mnt/backup-policy/xxxx' of //xx.xx.xx.xx:backup failed. The version of this QS server is 4.3.3.016 and its target mount QS server is 4.3.3.016 as well

Would you please kindly advice?

Thanks,
Shiyuan

Hi Shiyuan,
We've got QuantaStor v4.5 due out this evening. Would be great to have you upgrade to that on Monday and see if that addresses the issue you're seeing. If not, please send new logs and a note to support@osnexus.com and we'll take a closer look.
Thanks,
-Steve
