Community Forum > QuantaStor IOPS combined RAID SSD+SATAIIIĀ calculator

Hi all,
I'd like to know whether exists a calculator of QuantaStor IOPS for combined RAID solutions with SSD (caching) and SATAIII.

Hi Luca,
That's high on our TODO list but in short, you should be able to achieve 100K+ IOPS on just about any SSD system with 10 or more SSD drives in RAID50 (3+1 or 4+1) or RAID10. Note that the disk backplane on the server chassis will have a big impact on performance. Specifically, you want to direct connect the SATA SSD drives to the RAID controller rather than having it go through a SAS expander. The performance difference can be as much as 50% or more depending on the number of drives you have. The Adaptec 7xxx line of RAID controllers has the most 12G ports of any vendor we know of so you can use one of those to direct connect 24 SSD drives otherwise you'll often need multiple controllers to direct connect all the SSD drives in the chassis.
